COMMANDER’S CUP CHALLENGE TROPHY FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2024 CONCLUDES SUCCESSFULLY

The Commander’s Cup Challenge Trophy Football Tournament 2024, organized under the guidance of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, to showcase the sporting excellence of the tri-forces. The Sri Lanka Air Force hosted the Commanders Cup 2024 from 02 to 10 December 2024.

The preliminary rounds of the tournament and the final matches took place at the Racecourse ground in Colombo yesterday (10 December 2024), where the Men’s category Navy Football Club played against the Army Football Club, and the Women’s category Air Force Football Club played against the Navy Football Club. Emerging victorious, the Army men's team and Navy women's team clinched the championship in penalty shooting against the Navy Men’s team and the Air Force Women’s team.

The event was graced by the presence of the Chief of Staff of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Wickremaratne, as the chief guest. Also, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Suresh Fernando, as the Chairman of SLAF Soccer, members of the Air Force Board of Management, along with passionate soccer enthusiasts from Colombo attended the occasion.
