CHANGE OF COMMAND AT MINUSCA

The Sri Lanka Aviation Unit deployed in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), is tasked with carrying out air operations in Sector East, the largest sector of the country, while undertaking a range of operational duties including troop transport, insertion and extraction , Air Patrol (with armed troops onboard), Quick Reaction Force  transportation on request, Search and Rescue, CASEVAC/MEDEVAC missions, ISR mission, Observer/ Monitor tasks and Aerial fire support etc.

The 10th Aviation Contingent of Sri Lanka Air Force was deployed in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) on 6 December 2024. The Change of Command took place at the Sri Lanka Aviation Unit in Bria, Central African Republic on 14 December 2024.

Group Captain RMAU Ratnayake, the outgoing Contingent Commander of the 9th Contingent, handed over the command to Group Captain DUE De Silva, the Contingent Commander of the 10th contingent at the Contingent Commander’s office.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
