The Change of Command at SLAF Base Vavuniya was held today (16 December 2024) where Air Commodore NK Thanippuliarachchi RWP, RSP and two Bars, USP, MSc (Def & Start Stu), Pg Dip (Def Mgt), fawc (USA), psc handed over the command to Group Captain KADAC Kuruwita WV, WWV, RSP, USP, MMS (Mil Com), BSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, Pg Dip (Def Mgt), psc, qhi.

Group Captain KADAC Kuruwita previously held the appointment as Acting Commandant SLAF Academy China Bay and Director Academic Studies before being appointed as the Base Commander, Vavuniya. The outgoing Base Commander, Air Commodore NK Thanippuliarachchi will be proceeding to Defence Services Command and Staff College, Sapugaskanda as the Chief Instructor.
