The Change of Command of the SLAF Academy China Bay was held today (19 December 2024). The traditional Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade took place at the Academy Parade Square premises where the Acting Commandant Group Captain  DL Hewavitharana WV, RWP and Bar, RSP and three Bars, USP, MMS (Mil Com-PRC), BSc (Def Stu), Pg Dip (Def Mgt), psc, qhi handed over command to Air Commodore WPAH Perera RSP and Bar, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), MA (SSS - USA), BSc (Def Stu), ndc (Ind), ctf - ndu, psc. Group Captain DL Hewavitharana will be remaining at the Academy as the Deputy Commandant.

The new Commandant, Air Commodore WPAH Perera assumed office soon after the completion of the traditional Handing Over/Taking Over Parade. Air Commodore WPAH Perera previously held the appointment of Chief Instructor Defence Services Command and Staff College Sapugaskanda before being appointed as the Commandant of the SLAF Academy China Bay.
