SLAF Mamaduwa and the Thandikulam-Omanthai Railway Track

The railway track from Thandikulam to Omanthai which was declared open
on 27th May 2011 brings the North and South closer and is another step
forward in the post conflict rebuilding of the country.
The entire aggregate requirement for the this railway construction project was provided by the Sri Lanka Air force “Northern Spring” surface mining (quarry) project-Mamaduwa.
The above surface mining (quarry) project was established directly under the purview of Gp Capt HA Perusinghe (Command Development Projects Officer) and Air Cdre KFR Fernando (Base Cmdr SLAF Base Vna) mainly for the purpose of producing aggregate for rapid development projects launched by the government in the newly liberated areas of North and Eastern provinces of the country. The SLAF detachment at Mamaduwa is commanded by Squadron Leader Prabath Molligoda
