The fundraising raffle draw for the ‘Suraksha’ Air Force Care Home Project at Goluwapokuna was successfully held today (30 December 2024) at Air Force Headquarters. The event, organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force, supported the establishment of a specialized care facility dedicated to ensuring that retired Air Force personnel receive the support and comfort they rightfully deserve in recognition of their service to the nation.

The event was graced by the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa as the Chief Guest. Also present were the Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Wickremaratne, Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Chaminda Wickremaratne, members of the Air Force Board of Management and other distinguished guests.

The raffle draw was conducted in three stages, generating significant excitement among the attendees. The Deputy Chief of Staff initiated the first stage by selecting 10 winners, each receiving a cash prize of LKR 100,000. This was followed by the Chief of Staff, who drew another 10 winners for the same prize. Finally, the Chief Guest, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, selected the winners of the top three prizes. The third prize of Rs. 500,000 was received by Corporal Samaraweera MC from Sri Jayewardenepura, the second prize of Rs. 750,000 went to Group Captain HMLS Lankathilake from Sri Jayewardenepura and the grand prize of Rs. 1,000,000 was won by Leading Aircraftman Wijesinghe WMUK from SLAF Station Weerawila.
The Commander commended the exceptional support and enthusiasm demonstrated by everyone involved in the event, from organizers to participants. He noted that the funds raised would play a pivotal role in realizing the vision of the ‘Suraksha’ project, ensuring that retired Air Force personnel are provided with a dignified and comfortable environment in their later years. The proceedings officially concluded after the results were finalized and validated by a panel of judges, ensuring the transparency and credibility of the raffle draw.
