OUTGOING CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF PAYS FAREWELL CALL TO COMMANDER OF THE AIR FORCE

The outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva, paid a farewell call on the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, at Air Force Headquarters today (30 December 2024), marking his official retirement after 40 years of distinguished service to the nation.
Upon his arrival, General Silva was received by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Sri Jayewardenepura, Air Commodore Manoj Galappaththi. A Ceremonial Guard of Honour was then accorded to him by the No. 43 Colour Wing.
Following the ceremonial proceedings, General Shavendra Silva was warmly welcomed by Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa. During the cordial discussions, General Silva expressed his gratitude to the Commander of the Air Force for the support extended throughout his tenure.
As part of the occasion, official plaques were exchanged between the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Air Force at the Commander’s Office. Before his departure, a formal group photograph was taken with the Air Force Board of Management, commemorating the occasion.
