FIRST-EVER AIRCRAFT FIREFIGHTING AND RESCUE SIMULATOR TRAINING HELD AT MINUSCA BRIA AIRPORT

A historic achievement was made at the MINUSCA Bria Airport yesterday (07 January 2025), as it hosted its first-ever Aircraft Firefighting and Rescue Simulator training. This event marks a crucial step in enhancing emergency response capabilities within the Central African Republic. The exercise was organized under the guidance of Mr. Kendjo Mukendi Tomboji, Aviation Fire Marshal of the Air Terminal Unit at Mpoko International Airport, Bangui, in collaboration with international firefighting experts, including the Sri Lanka Air Force’s 10th Contingent Rescue Firefighters.

The live simulation focused on advanced firefighting techniques, including handling aircraft fuel fires, rapid evacuation procedures, and casualty rescue operations under challenging conditions. The Sri Lankan Firefighters demonstrated their exceptional skills and unwavering commitment, showcasing their readiness to respond to high-risk emergencies.

The training focused on practical scenarios, promoting cooperation among multinational teams and ensuring the safety of MINUSCA air operations. The participation of the Sri Lankan contingent displayed their adeptness, technical expertise and dedication to global peacekeeping initiatives, further strengthening the longstanding relationship between Sri Lanka and the United Nations.
