SLAF MEN’S AND WOMEN’S HOCKEY TEAMS EXCELLED AT THE ‘DUTHA 7S' 7-A-SIDE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

The SLAF Men’s and Women’s hockey teams delivered an outstanding performance at the 4th “Dutha 7s” All-Island Inter-Club 7-a-Side Hockey Tournament held yesterday (19 January 2025) at the Vincent Dias Ground, Badulla. Organized by the Past Pupils Association of Dharmadutha College, Badulla, the event brought together top hockey teams from across the country, and the SLAF teams emerged as dominant contenders.
The SLAF Men's Hockey “A” team claimed the Cup Joint Championship, sharing the title with the Police team after the penalty shootout was called off due to bad weather. Both teams were tied 1-1 when the match time ended.
In the women’s category, the SLAF Women's Hockey “B” team shone brightly, securing the Plate Championship with a decisive 1-0 victory over the Army “B” team in the finals.
The SLAF Men's Hockey “B” team and the SLAF Women's Hockey “A” team showcased their performances, achieving the position of 2nd Runners-Up in the Cup Championship in their respective categories.
In addition to the team’s achievements, SLAF player Sergeant Rathnasiri CMTD, was also awarded the "Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament" award.
