NO. 3 AIR DEFENCE RADAR SQUADRON AT SLAF STATION WEERAWILA CELEBRATES 18TH ANNIVERSARY

The No. 3 Air Defence Radar Squadron (ADRS) at SLAF Station Weerawila celebrated its 18th anniversary yesterday (01 February 2025). The No. 3 ADRS was formed as an integral component of the National Air Defence System, which was commissioned as a fully operational squadron on 01 February 2007 at SLAF Academy China Bay. Subsequently, the squadron was relocated into SLAF Station Weerawila on 12 May 2012 in order to meet the operational requirements of the National Air Defence System.

Marking the occasion, the customary working parade was held at the squadron premises, which was reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander PGVCP Nandasena.

In line with the anniversary celebration, Shramadana Campaign was conducted at Seenimunna Paddy Stock Centre, Lunugamwehera on 29 January 2025. Furthermore, a blood donation campaign was also organized at the station on 30 January 2025 by the No. 3 ADRS personnel to support the Hambantota blood bank and more than 70 blood donors participated in the blood donation drive. The anniversary celebration concluded with a friendly Cricket tournament among all personnel at the Station Cricket Ground.
