SLAF CONDUCTS WORKSHOP ON INTEGRATING SPORTS MEDICINE AND COACHING STRATEGIES FOR PHYSICAL TRAINING INSTRUCTORS

The Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Division organized a one-day workshop titled ‘Integrating Sports Medicine and Coaching Strategies’ for Sri Lanka Air Force Physical Training Instructors yesterday (20 February 2025) at the Air Force Headquarters. The programme was designed to enhance the participants’ understanding of effective coaching methodologies while addressing the diverse challenges faced in both sports and military at present.

Participants engaged in a series of interactive and thought provoking sessions throughout the day. The topics covered during the workshop provided are practical insights into personal growth and motivation, revitalizing sports culture in SLAF and prevention of sports injuries. The workshop directed by the Director of Sports, Air Commodore Suresh Jayasinghe and by focusing the importance of maintaining a winning mindset, emphasizing consistency and resilience in overcoming present setbacks in sports and fitness culture.

The resource personnel for the sessions were Sports Instructor at National Institute of Sports Sciences, Mr. Rasindu Jayasinghe, Secretary Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union and National Course Director National Olympic Committee Group Captain Nalin De Silva (Retired) and Officer In Charge Sports and Exercise Medicine Unit at Sri Lanka Air Force Hospital Katunayake, Group Captain (Dr) Sherika Samarasinghe.

The workshop concluded with closing remarks and the resource personnel were honoured with tokens of appreciation in recognition of their valuable contributions to the programme and their commitment to professional development of Physical Training Instructors in Sri Lanka Air Force.
