
NO. 3 LEISURE AND RECREATION WING AT SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES 12TH ANNIVERSARY

The 12th Anniversary of No. 3 Leisure and Recreation Wing at SLAF Base Katunayake was celebrated yesterday (02 March 2025) with a formal working parade held at the Banquet Hall premises.
During his address to the staff, the Commanding Officer, Group Captain HKH Dias, highlighted the distinguished history of the formation and acknowledged the significant contributions of past members over the past decade. Furthermore, he urged all members to uphold high standards and deliver quality service, reinforcing the Wing’s reputation as a leading service provider in the hospitality industry, particularly in the Negombo region.
The anniversary celebrations featured a cricket tournament, in which all members of the Wing actively participated.
In alignment with the Government’s ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ policy and under the guidance of the Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Vice Marshal NHDN Dias, a community service initiative was undertaken at the ‘Lakshmi Children’s Development Centre' in Avariwatta, Katunayake. This initiative included the renovation of essential facilities for the children, the delivery of an educational lecture, an entertainment session and a lunch for the children. Additionally, several essential items required for their daily use were donated during the event.
As part of the anniversary proceedings, all members of the Wing also took part in a Kavi Bana programme.
