12:30am on Thursday 6th March 2025
The Air Defence Gunnery Training School (ADGTS) at SLAF Station Iranamadu proudly celebrated its 13th anniversary yesterday (05 March 2025). Originally established at SLAF Base Katunayake, the school was relocated to SLAF Station Iranamadu on 05 March 2012, on which date it also became an independent formation within the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF).

Since its inception, the Air Defence Gunnery Training School has been commanded by seven Commanding Officers and is currently under the leadership of Squadron Leader Prasanna Balasooriya. The school conducts various training courses, including the Land Based Air Defence (LBAD) Course, LBAD Instructor Course, IGLA Missile Training Course, USFM Radar Training Course, Refresher Courses and several other specialized programs designed for Officers, Airmen and Officer Cadets.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, a customary working parade was held at the Air Defence Gunnery Training School (ADGTS) premises, which was reviewed by the Commanding Officer of ADGTS. Following the parade, Officers, Instructors, Staff and Trainees participated in religious observances. The day's events concluded with a friendly volleyball match among the staff.

Additionally, in commemoration of the anniversary, a community service project was conducted on 04 March 2025, during which the Kilinochchiya Bus Stop was repainted as part of a “Shramadana” campaign.
