The Inter Unit Chess Championship 2025 was conducted at SLAF Trade Training School Ekala from 25 to 28 March 2025. The awards ceremony was held at the Main Auditorium with the graceful presence of the Director General Training, Air Vice Marshal Deshapriya Silva as the Chief Guest.

Twelve teams along with nearly 60 players participated in this year’s tournament and were judged by Arbiters from the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka. The Open Blitz 3+2 tournament was organized with the participation of 52 players participating in the event. SLAF Trade Training School Ekala claimed the Championship whilst Technical Formation team SLAF Base Ratmalana emerged as Runners-Up.

Officer Cadet Adhikari AMMSC from SLAF Trade Training School Ekala was awarded as the Best Player of the overall Championship. The Blitz Champion was secured by Wing Commander Lakmal Jayasuriya, representing the Technical Formations SLAF Base Ratmalana.

Commanding Officer SLAF Trade Training School Ekala, Air Commodore Kolitha Abeysinghe, Chairman SLAF Chess, Group Captain Dhanushka Thalaketiya, Senior Officers, members of the Air Force Sports Council and other invitees participated to witness the final session.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Secretary SLAF Chess, Wing Commander WMKN Wickramasinghe.
