The No. 08 Tactical Transport Squadron at SLAF Base Ratmalana commemorated its 29th anniversary yesterday (02 April 2025). In conjunction with the Formation Day celebrations, a special visit was organized for the families of the Squadron’s service personnel. This initiative aimed to provide them with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and demands faced by their loved ones in the course of their duties.

During the visit, family members were given the opportunity to observe real-time flight preparations and a flying sortie. Additionally, they were able to view aircraft components, tour the interior of an aircraft and gain insight into various aspects of the Squadron's operations.

The initiative also sought to raise a sense of pride and unity among the families, allowing them to develop a deeper appreciation for the critical role played by the No. 08 Tactical Transport Squadron. One of the key motivations behind the event was to inspire the younger generation. Observing the Squadron’s personnel in action, engaging with the intricacies of aviation and learning about the importance of tactical transport operations sparked a sense of pride and curiosity in the younger attendees.
