The Change of Command of No. 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron SLAF Base Hingurakgoda was held on 04 April 2025. The traditional Handing over/ Taking over parade was conducted at the squadron premises where the outgoing Commanding Officer, Group Captain PS Liyanarachchi RWP, RSP and four Bars, USP, MSc(Def & Strat Stu), BSc (Def Stu), Pg Dip (Con & Pea Stu), psc handed over the command to Group Captain LYW Senevirathne RSP and two Bars, USP, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), psc.

The outgoing Commanding Officer Group Captain PS Liyanarachchi retired from service on 05 April 2025 after 26 years of service.  The new Commanding Officer Group Captain LYW Senevirathne previously held the appointment as the Officer Commanding Operations at the No 4 Helicopter Squadron SLAF Base Ratmalana before being appointed as the Commanding Officer No. 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron SLAF Base Hingurakgoda.
