The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, conducted the Annual Commander’s Inspection at SLAF Station Sigiriya today (08 April 2025). The Commander was received by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain Viranga Premawardhana and was accorded a Ceremonial Guard of Honour. The Commander awarded the Certificates of Commendation to the following personnel for their meritorious contribution to the Station in particular and to the Air Force in general.

During the course of the inspection the Commander visited all areas of the Station including Station Headquarters, No.47 Regt Wing, Hospitality Management School, Equipment section, Welfare shop, Electronics section, MT Section, MI Room, Sports Section, Airmen’s and Airwomen’s Mess and WOs’ and SNCOs’ Mess, Officers Transit Block II, Main Guard Room and Tailoring Section. After visiting the sections Commander visited the Eagles’ citadels Golf Course and pro shop.

The Commander addressed all ranks of the station after the inspection. During his address, he emphasized the importance of discipline of service personnel and stressed maintaining of 100% discipline at all levels. Further, the Commander instructed all ranks about upholding standards at the highest level. Additionally, he highlighted the significance of ongoing projects under the Clean Sri Lanka initiative and encouraged to engage personnel to actively contribute and maintain the Air Force's commitment to nation building.

Moreover, the Commander discussed matters regarding increasing loan facilities for service personnel as a measure to uplift their welfare facilities and highlighted the increasing of the aircraft fleet. The Commander concluded the gathering thanking all officers and all ranks for apprising the Commander to the highest standard.
