2:39pm on Wednesday 9th April 2025
As part of a broader national initiative, the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) was inaugurated within the SLAF today (09 April 2025) at Air Force Headquarters. This inauguration coincided with the national ceremony for the commencement of the Anti-Corruption Action Plan (2025–2029), held under the patronage of His Excellency the President at the BMICH.
The establishment of the SLAF IAU aligns with the broader national framework introduced by the President’s Secretariat, which mandates the formation of Internal Affairs Units across all government institutions.
The programme commenced under the guidance of the Director General of Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal Deshapriya Silva, who has been appointed as the Head of the IAU by the Commander of the Air Force.
Squadron Leader Danushka Botheju, a member of the SLAF IAU, delivered the opening presentation of the event. He highlighted the vital role of the IAU and emphasized the importance of adherence to the existing orders and procedures within the organization.
Following the presentation, attendees viewed a live telecast of a programme by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). The broadcast included an address by His Excellency Anura Kumara Dissanayake, President of Sri Lanka, during which he reaffirmed the government’s firm stance against corruption. His remarks provided valuable insights into the national strategy aimed at strengthening a transparent, accountable and citizen-centric public service.
This transformative initiative was attended by members of the Air Force Board of Management, senior officers and SLAF personnel representing various Directorates of the Air Force Headquarters.
