
ST. SYLVESTER'S COLLEGE FELICITATES THE COMMANDER OF THE AIR FORCE

St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy and the Old Sylvestrian Association paid their highest tribute to its alumni, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe at the college premises today (09 April 2025) during a special assembly in keeping with St. Sylvester’s College’s tradition of recognizing those who have achieved the highest degree of recognition and achievement in society.
The ceremony showcased an impressive pageantry of current St. Sylvester’s College students and staff members, with the college cadet platoon and the Sylvestrian band heralding the parade, with a distinguished gathering of past Sylvestrian Tri-Service members.

The Commander, addressing the gathering at St. Sylvester’s College, expressed pride in returning to his alma mater. He credited the school for shaping his values and guiding his journey to the Air Force. Encouraging students to work hard and believe in themselves, he reminded them that their dreams are valid and achievable. He also urged them to uphold the legacy of the college and let their actions reflect its pride and values.
Speaking at the ceremony, the present principle of St. Sylvester’s College, Mr. RAAR Ranasinghe stated that Sylvester’s College has a history of producing noble sons who serve the country in the highest offices and Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, who had excelled in sports, studies and extracurricular activities whilst at school and has reached to a prestigious position as the 20th Commander of the Air Force, is a source of pride to his alma mater.
