DIRECTOR GENERAL LOGISTICS OF THE SLAF APPOINTED

Air Vice Marshal Gladwin Atapattu was appointed as the Director General Logistics of the Sri Lanka Air Force, with effect from today (10 April 2025). The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, officially handed over the letter of appointment to Air Vice Marshal Atapattu at the Air Force Headquarters today and conveyed his best wishes to the newly appointed Director General Logistics.

He commenced his military career on 22nd October 1994 as an Officer Cadet of the 12th Intake at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy, Ratmalana, where he demonstrated outstanding academic performance and leadership potential. Following his basic administrative training at the SLAF Combat Training School, Diyatalawa, and specialized logistics training at the Aircraft Spares Depot, SLAF Base Katunayake, he was commissioned into the Logistics Branch as a Flying Officer on 21st December 1997.

Over the years, Air Vice Marshal Atapattu has served in numerous key appointments within the Logistics Branch, including Director Logistics Personnel and Planning, Chief Procurement Officer, Director Budget, Procurement Monitoring Officer, Commanding Officer of the Equipment Provisioning and Accounting Unit, Chief Catering Officer, and Officer Commanding Payment. His wealth of experience and strategic acumen led to his appointment as the Director General Logistics in the Sri Lanka Air Force.

A firm believer in continuous professional development, he has successfully completed several advanced training programmes, culminating in his graduation from the National Defence College, Sri Lanka, where he earned the prestigious title of ndc (SL). His unwavering commitment and distinguished service to the nation have been recognized with the award of the Uththama Seva Padakkama (USP).

In addition to his operational and administrative responsibilities, Air Vice Marshal Atapattu also serves as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Air Force Athletic Pool, contributing to the development of sports within the Air Force.
