The SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit,  under the guidance of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe and the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Krishanthi Edirisinghe, launched a special welfare initiative commencing on yesterday (25 April 2025). This initiative was conducted in support of the thousands of devotees who gathered at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy for the rare public exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

In keeping with its commitment to community welfare, the SLAF SVU has already distributed over 27,000 bottles of drinking water and Jeewani (oral rehydration solution) over the past two days, providing essential relief to pilgrims engaged in religious observances. The initiative will continue on the final day tomorrow, ensuring uninterrupted support to the devotees attending the sacred exposition.

This sacred exposition, held after a span of 16 years, drew devotees from across the country. Members of the Seva Vanitha Unit, led by the Chairperson, personally participated in the distribution efforts, ensuring that timely assistance was provided to the visiting public.

During the occasion, the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, visited the site and interacted with SLAF personnel who had been assigned specific duties at the temple premises.
