CERTIFICATE AWARDING CEREMONY OF NO. 05 CHEMICAL BIOLOGICAL RADIOLOGICAL NUCLEAR EXPLOSIVE ADVANCE COURSE

The Certificate Awarding Ceremony of No. 05 Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosive Advance Course was held on yesterday (11 June 2025) at No. 49 CBRNE Wing SLAF Base Katunayake under the patronage of the Base Commander SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Commadore AV Jayasekera as the Chief Guest.
The primary objective of this course is to equip specially selected servicemen with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to serve as qualified first responders to potential Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive emergencies.
The No. 05 CBRNE Advance Course comprised with one SL Navy Officer, one SLAF Officer, two Sailors, twenty four Airmen and three Airwomen. At the ceremony, 31 awardees received certificates to mark the successful completion of the courses.
Flight Lieutenant HMNL Hindagoda was recognized as the Best CBRNE First Responding Officer among the Officers for Outstanding Performance in the No. 05 CBRNE Advance Course. Similarly, Leading Aircraftwoman Savindya HMGN was awarded the title of Best CBRNE First Responding Airwoman.
