SLAF DEPLOYS FIRST AEROMEDICAL EVACUATION TEAM TO CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC

The SLAF is set to deploy its first-ever Aeromedical Evacuation Team (AMET) to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission (MINUSCA)  on 14 June 2025 in the Central African Republic. The team comprises six medical personnel, including two officers and four airmen, who will undertake Aeromedical Evacuation duties in support of ongoing UN operations.

The AMET, led by Group Captain GSS Perera, made a formal courtesy call on the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe today (13 June 2025) prior to their departure. During the meeting, the Commander extended his best wishes to the team and emphasized the significance of their role in enhancing SLAF’s contribution to international peacekeeping efforts.
