SLAF AND NAVY PERSONNEL HONOURED AT EOD BASIC COURSE CERTIFICATE AND BADGE AWARDING CEREMONY

The Certificate and Badge Awarding Ceremony for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Basic Course of No.49 Officers, No.09 Lady Officers, No.64 Airmen, No.17 Airwomen and No.39 Navy Personnel was  held today (19 June 2025) at SLAF Station Palavi, where 40 personnel from the Sri Lanka Air Force and Sri Lanka Navy celebrated the successful completion of their intensive training. The event was graced by the Director Force Protection from Directorate of Ground Operations Air Commodore ADR Liyanaarachchige attended as the Chief Guest.

The EOD Basic Course is designed to develop highly skilled professionals capable of identifying, neutralizing, and disposing of explosive threats in complex and high-risk environments. These EOD specialists play a vital role in national security, contributing to counter-terrorism efforts, disaster response and operational readiness across all branches of the armed forces.

The parade consisted of two Male Officers, one Lady Officer, 29 Airmen, three Airwomen from the Sri Lanka Air Force, along with one Officer and four Sailors from the Sri Lanka Navy. A total of 40 trainees were awarded certificates and EOD badges, formally recognizing their successful completion of the course.
