MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING WING SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES 23RD ANNIVERSARY

The Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Wing (M&EEW) at SLAF Base Katunayake proudly celebrated its 23rd Anniversary on 22 June 2025. Currently, the Wing comprises seven officers specializing in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, along with 197 airmen trained across multiple technical disciplines.

The Wing’s primary responsibility is the management and execution of all Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (M&EE) operations across SLAF establishments. Additionally, the Wing is entrusted with providing uninterrupted electrical power supply, lighting decoration, illumination, and air conditioning facilities for VIP/VVIP functions organized by the SLAF, as directed by Air Force Headquarters.

To mark the formation day, a Pirith Chanting Ceremony was held on 20 June 2025 at the Wing premises. The event was organized to invoke blessings and to commemorate the establishment of the M&EEW at SLAF Base Katunayake.

The formation day’s proceedings commenced with the customary working parade, attended by officers and airmen of the Wing. The parade was reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander AN Hathurusinghe.

To further commemorate the occasion, a tree-planting program was carried out within the Wing premises, followed by a team-building sports event aimed at enhancing unity and camaraderie among the personnel.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
