BELL TEXTRON HONOURS SLAF COMMANDER AND CHIEF OF STAFF FOR NOTABLE SAFETY RECORDS

Bell Textron formally presented Pilot Safety Award certificates to Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe and the Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera yesterday (23 June 2025) at Air Force Headquaters.

Air Marshal Edirisinghe was recognized for completing 6,142 accident-free helicopter flying hours, while Air Vice Marshal Sumanaweera was honoured for achieving 4,047 accident-free helicopter flying hours. The awards highlight their individual records of safe flying with Bell helicopters.

The presentation was attended by representatives from Bell Textron (Sri Lanka and Maldives), along with officials from Ceylon Aeronautical Services (CAS), including its President, Mr. Sampath Ranaweera, and Vice President, Air Vice Marshal Jayanath Kumarasiri (Retd.).

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
