NEW COMMAND MASTER WARRANT OFFICER TAKES OVER DUTIES

Master Warrant Officer M Damith took over duties as the Command Master Warrant Officer (CMWO) of the Sri Lanka Air Force under the auspices of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe today (02 July 2025) at Air Force Headquarters. The Commander handed over the appointment letter to Master Warrant Officer M Damith this morning at the Commanders Office.
The Outgoing Command Master Warrant Officer of the SLAF, Master Warrant Officer G Wickremasekara handed over his appointment of Command Master Warrant Officer to Master Warrant Officer M Damith. The Commander appreciated the valuable and dedicated service of Master Warrant Officer G Wickremasekara during his career in the Air Force and as the Command Master Warrant Officer of the SLAF as well. Master Warrant Officer G Wickremasekara was presented with a letter of appreciation and a memento by the Commander as a token of appreciation.
Master Warrant Officer M Damith joined the Sir Lanka Air Force on the 16 July 2004 as an Operations Ground tradesman. Before being appointed as the Command Master Warrant Officer he served in the capacity of Station Warrant Officer (SWO) at the SLAF Station Sri Jayewardenepura.
The Command Master Warrant Officer appointment was established in July 2017. The Command Master Warrant Officer is the senior-most Other Ranker in the Air Force and reports directly to the Commander of the Air Force. He is vested with the overall responsibility for all aspects related to the general administration and welfare of other rankers and non-executive civilian employees of the SLAF.
