SLAF CONDUCTS REFRESHER TRAINING ON SAFE LOAD HANDLING FOR AIR LOADMASTERS
The Directorate of Logistics successfully conducted a four-day refresher training programme on ‘Safe Load Handling’ for 16 qualified Air Loadmasters of the SLAF. Held from 01 to 04 July 2025, the programme was organized under the direction of the Director General Logistics, Air Vice Marshal Gladvin Atapattu. Its primary objective was to update participants’ knowledge and enhance their practical skills in aircraft loading and unloading procedures, thereby reinforcing the highest standards of flight safety.
The intensive programme integrated both theoretical instruction and practical exercises, with a focus on key responsibilities associated with loadmaster duties. A notable feature of the training was a series of guest lectures delivered by senior officers who shared their extensive expertise on the subject. Additionally, scenario-based simulations conducted at No. 02 Squadron, SLAF Base Katunayake, offered participants valuable hands-on experience in aircraft loading and unloading operations within a controlled setting, enabling them to apply their refreshed knowledge effectively.
