As part of the ‘Ranaviru’ commemorative ceremonies being conducted during the month of July , SLAF Base Vavuniya organized an all night Pirith chanting event followed by “Dana” for the maha Sangha  at the Base on 9th and 10th July 2011 to invoke blessings on the fallen heroes, the Commander of the Air Force and all serving members of the SLAF, their families and for the country.

The event was organized under the patronage of the Base Commander, Air Commodore Rohintha Fernando and “Heel Dana” was offered for 16 monks. Families of fallen hero’s and families of serving members too participated at this event .

This meritorious act was conducted under the guidance of maha sngha lead by Chief priest of the North and East and Chief incumbent of Vavuniya Sri Boodhi Dhakshinaramaya  the Ven Siyambalagaswewa Sri Wimalasara Nayake Thero. Moreover almost all members of the Base participated in this religious event with much commitment and devotion. The significant feature of this occasion is that such an event took place at SLAF Base Vavuniya only after a period of approximately  four decades.
