The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, concluded the Commander’s Inspection of SLAF Base Katunayake yesterday (26 July 2025) after two days session.

The Commander reviewed the Commander’s Inspection Parade commanded by the Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Commodore Asela Jayasekera and awarded Certificates of Commendation to three Warrant Officers, five Flight Sergeants, twelve Sergeants, eights Corporals, a Leading Aircraftman and a Civilian during the parade.

The Commander visited all areas of the Base during the two-day session. Further, the Commander also handed over newly renovated Officers’ Quarter and a SNCO’s Quarter. The Commander also visited the care home facility currently under construction at Bandarawatta.

Following the inspection, the Commander addressed all ranks of the Base including the civilian personnel. During his address, the emphasized the fact that the Katunayake Base being the largest in the SLAF plays a vital role in the SLAF’s operational and administrative capabilities. Furthermore, he stated that every member must strive to contribute 100% with unwavering professional Excellence, Integrity and Discipline, in order to ensure the pursuit of excellence in all what we do within the context of the professional Air Force. Finally, the Commander commended the Base Commander and his team for their hard work in preparing the Base to the standard required for the Commander’s Inspection.
