SLAF Ekala won the Inter Unit Netball Championship defeating SLAF Unit Colombo by 10 points to 07 yesterday (15th July 2011) at the SLAF Ekala courts.

In the first half of the game, Ekala scored 6 points whilst Colombo managed only 3. In the latter half both scored 4 points each which gave Ekala a three points lead to clinch the Championship. Airwomen Weehalla and Nandasiri were adjudged Best Shooter and Best Player respectively.

Subsequently, a mixed game of Netball was played between SLAF Colombo and SLAF Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at the same venue, which was won by SLAF BIA in keenly contested match by a mere point (9 – 8 points).

Former chairman of Sri Lanka Netball Association Mr. Rexi Nanayakkara and present Chairman of Sri Lanka Netball Association Mrs. Gammandeniya graced the occasion as the Chief Guests whilst the Commanding Officer SLAF Trade Training School Ekala, Group Captain Laksiri Gunawardana was also in attendance.
