CERTIFICATE AWARDING CEREMONY OF NO. 36 DISASTER MANAGEMENT AND FIRST RESPONSE BASIC COURSE AT SLAF DMTS DIGANA
The Certificate Awarding Ceremony for the Tri Forces Trainees of No. 36 Disaster Management and First Response Basic Training Course was held at SLAF Disaster Management Training School (DMTS) Digana, today (06 August 2025). The Director Ground Operations Personnel & Planning Air Commodore Manoj Galappaththi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The Commanding Officer Disaster Management Training School, Group Captain DGPL Jayathilaka, Officer Commanding Training, Wing Commander APUR Dharmasiri, all officers and other ranks of the School were also attended for the certificate awarding ceremony.
The Eighty Working Days training programme focused on key areas such as Disaster and Hazard Profiles, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR), Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), and several other critical subjects related to disaster management. It also included educational visits to institutions such as the Meteorological Department, Disaster Management Centre (DMC), National Building Research Organization (NBRO), Geological Survey & Mines Bureau (GSMB) and others.
All together 16 trainees including two Officers and eight Airmen from SLAF, two Officers and NCOs from SL Army and two sailors from SL Navy received their certificates at the occasion.
