SLAF SIGNS MOU WITH MINISTRY OF HEALTH TO STRENGTHEN PUBLIC HEALTH SUPPORT

The SLAF has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Health to further strengthen cooperation in combating dengue and other public health challenges through the use of SLAF drone technology.

The updated agreement was officially signed today (19 August 2025) between the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe and the Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Western Province, Mr. Lilantha Kalukapuarachchi at Air Force Headquarters. Attending on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Western Province were Mr. AL Vajira Ishantha Liyanarathna and Mr. SAM Prasad Weerasekara. Representing the Air Force, Director General Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal Deshapriya Silva and several senior officers were present.

Through this renewed MoU, SLAF drone operators will continue to provide technical and operational support not only for dengue eradication programmes but also for other health-related initiatives carried out by the Ministry of Health, as requested. The partnership enables the efficient use of drone-based technology and aerial surveillance to strengthen national-level public health campaigns across multiple domains.
