‘GUWAN MITHUDAM’ PROJECT UPGRADES DIGITAL LEARNING FOR HEARING-IMPAIRED STUDENTS

Seva Vanitha Unit of SLAF Base Ratmalana, under the guidance of the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Krishanthi Edirisinghe, launched a ‘Guwan Mithudam' project to relocate and upgrade the computer laboratory at the School for the Deaf, Ratmalana.

The School, established in 1912, currently provides education, vocational training, and care for over 120 hearing-impaired children. The computer lab of this school was located upstairs and lacked internet facilities and accessibility. With the new initiative, the lab has been relocated to a ground-floor facility and was renovated to create a more inclusive and student-friendly environment.

In support of the project, Dialog Axiata PLC made a generous donation of a Wi-Fi router along with lifetime unlimited internet access, significantly enhancing the school’s digital learning capabilities.

The project also included the provision of three smart board stands to enhance classroom learning and the laying of interlock bricks in the school’s indoor garden, further uplifted the environment for students. This noble initiative was made possible with the dedicated support and leadership of the Base Commander SLAF Base Ratmalana, Air Commodore Amitha Jayamaha, ensuring its successful execution.

The event was attended by Secretary Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit, Wing Commander Lilangi Randeni and members of SLAF Base Ratmalana Seva Vanitha Unit.
