FS&FTMS AT SLAF STATION KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES 9TH ANNIVERSARY

The Fire School and Fire Training Management School (FS&FTMS) at SLAF Station Katunayake proudly celebrated its 9th Anniversary yesterday (27 August 2025), marking a journey that began on 27 August 2016.

The celebrations were held under the leadership of the present Commanding Officer, Group Captain Chamil Hettiarachchi, with a series of activities organized to commemorate the occasion. The day commenced with the Formation Day Parade, followed by a volleyball tournament which brought together personnel in a spirit of teamwork and camaraderie. The programme concluded with an entertainment activity, adding colour and vibrancy to the event.

Since its inception, FS&FTMS has served as the central training and technical hub of the SLAF Fire & Rescue Service. The school conducts basic and advanced firefighting courses, specialized rescue courses and refresher training for firefighters, ensuring continuous professional development of personnel. In addition, the formation undertakes fire alarm system designing, installation and repairs, fire tender maintenance and repairs, pump maintenance and Fist Aid Fire Appliances (FAFA) refilling and repairing.

Through these training and technical services, FS&FTMS plays a vital role in maintaining the operational efficiency, safety standards and emergency response capability of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
