NO 02 OFFICERS FLIGHT SAFETY COURSE OF SLAF - 2025
The Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the 2nd Flight Safety Course was held yesterday (09 September 2025) at the No. 61 Flight, SLAF Base Ratmalana. The event marked the conclusion of the academic programme designed to inculcate the fundamentals of flight safety across all branches of the officer cadre. A total of 17 officers from various branches of the SLAF successfully completed the course.
The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Air Vice Marshal Andrew Wijesuriya (Retd), in the distinguished presence of the Director Flight Safety and the Base Commander SLAF Base Ratmalana, Air Commodore Amitha Jayamaha.
Addressing the gathering, the Base Commander, highlighted that flight safety must remain paramount in every aspect of Air Force operations. He expressed his satisfaction at the successful conduct of the course and commended the course participants for their achievement.
In the Chief Guest’s address, Air Vice Marshal Wijesuriya, reminded the participants of the need to be truly air minded to adopt an outlook where the principles of flight safety are ingrained in daily practice. He stressed that it is the responsibility of every officer to carry these lessons forward and to find meaningful ways of passing them on to the next generation. Further, he emphasized the importance of understanding safety principles and living by them.
