The Change of Command at the Aircraft Engineering Wing (AEW), SLAF Base Katunayake was conducted yesterday (29 September 2025). The traditional Handing Over / Taking Over parade took place at the Wing premises where the outgoing Acting Commanding Officer Wing Commander KEND Gunaratne USP, MPP (Sing), MSc (Def & Stat Stu), BSc (Aero Eng - USA), Pg Dip (Def Mgt), AMIE (SL), psc handed over the command to Group Captain WUS De Silva USP, BSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, psc, Z.

Group Captain WUS De Silva previously held the appointment of Head of Training Team at Air Wing, Defence Services Command and Staff College at Sapugaskanda before being appointed as the Commanding Officer of AEW.
