NO. 02 AERIAL SNIPER COURSE CONCLUDES AT SLAF REGIMENTAL TRAINING CENTRE AMPARA

The No. 02 Aerial Sniper Course, comprising two officers and six airmen, successfully concluded at the SLAF Regimental Training Centre, Ampara, yesterday (10 October 2025). The course commenced on 22 September 2025 and was designed for experienced and proficient marksmen of the Sri Lanka Air Force, aiming to enhance their specialized skills in aerial sniping operations.

Throughout the course, trainees underwent comprehensive theoretical and practical training, covering key areas such as types of aerial sniper operations, engagement of moving and emergent targets from aerial platforms, wind and distance calculations, Bell 212 helicopter familiarization, inclined shooting techniques, and live-firing exercises conducted from the Bell 212 helicopter.

Additionally, the course participants were trained to engage moving targets at sea, further broadening their operational readiness and enabling them to support maritime missions with enhanced precision and effectiveness.

The closing ceremony of the No. 02 Aerial Sniper Course was held today (11 October 2025)) at the SLAF Regimental Training Centre, Ampara. The event was graced by the Acting Commanding Officer of the Centre, Wing Commander BP Vidanapathirana, who awarded the Aerial Sniper Insignia to the trainees who successfully completed the training, marking their achievement and operational proficiency in this specialized field.
