SLAF ORGANIZES A HEALTH CAMP AT THE TEMPLE OF THE SACRED TOOTH RELIC, KANDY

With the guidance of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe and the Director General Health Services, Air Vice Marshal (Dr.) Lalith Jayaweera, along with Director Medical Services, Air Commodore (Dr.) Neeluka Abeysekara and Director Dental Services, Air Commodore (Dr.) Kumudu Weerasekara, a Medical and Dental Clinic was successfully conducted today (21 October 2025) at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Kandy. The programme was conducted by Air Force Medical and Dental Officers and Medical and Dental staff, providing essential healthcare services to the Buddhist Monks of the Asgiri and Malwathu chapters, as well as the civilian staff of the Temple of the Tooth Relic and their family members.

The Commanding Officer of the SLAF Hospital, Colombo, Group Captain (Dr.) Sujeewa Alwis, and the Staff Officer I Dental Services, Group Captain (Dr.) Prabath Abeyruwan, meticulously coordinated the event.

The clinic was enhanced by a range of consultations offered in specialities of Medical, Dental, Radiology, Eye, Dermatology, Psychotherapy and Physiotherapy during the event.

A notable highlight of the programme was the distribution of reading glasses generously donated by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit. The distribution followed consultations conducted by Consultant Eye Surgeon, Group Captain Abhaya Jayasekara, ensuring that beneficiaries received appropriate optical support. A total of 351 individuals benefited from the Medical Clinic, while 171 individuals received treatment from the Dental Clinic.
