AIR FORCE OPEN SQUASH CHAMPIONSHIP – 2025
The 17th Air Force Open PSA (Professional Squash Association) Squash Championship 2025 concludes on a high note at the Squash Complex, SLAF Base Ratmalana today (24 October 2025). The finals were held in the Women’s Open and Men’s Open categories. The occasion was graced by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Demian Weerasinghe, as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by the Director General Training, Air Vice Marshal Thushara Weerarathne, Director General Welfare, Air Vice Marshal Rajinth Jayewardene, President Sri Lanka Squash, Group Captain Eranda Geeganage, Secretary and Vice President Sri Lanka Squash and Chairman Air Force Squash, Air Commodore Duleep Hewavitharana, Director Sports SLAF, Air Commodore Suresh Jayasinghe, past Chairmen and Secretaries of Air Force Squash, along with other distinguished guests from the Sri Lanka Air Force and Sri Lanka Squash.
The Air Force Open Squash Tournament, conducted in adherence to international regulations under the full supervision of the Sri Lanka Squash Federation, featured participation from both local and foreign squash players, totaling over 400 participants. Players in the Men’s Open category competed for the Air Chief Marshal PH Mendis Memorial Trophy, while those in the Women’s Open category vied for the Air Chief Marshal Harry Goonetileke Memorial Trophy.
Ravindu Laksiri delivered an exceptional performance to claim victory in the Men’s Open category of the Air Force Open PSA Squash Championship 2025, defeating Shamil Wakeel in a competitive final. Demonstrating remarkable skill and dominance, Ravindu secured the Championship title with a decisive 3–1 victory in rounds.
In the Women’s Open final, Chanithma Sinely showcased outstanding form, skill, and determination to secure the Championship title. In a closely contested match, she overcame Ranliya Wood with a hard-fought 3–0 victory.
