SLAF Base Vavuniya celebrated its 47th anniversary today (27 October 2025) with a series of social and recreational activities organized under the guidance of the Acting Base Commander, Wing Commander GDP Premadasa, together with all officers, other ranks, and civilian staff.
The day’s events commenced with the customary Working Parade, reviewed by the Acting Base Commander. The celebrations then continued with a friendly cricket tournament held at the Base Sports Ground, where officers, airmen, and civilian staff participated with great enthusiasm. The day concluded with a fellowship All-Ranks Lunch, strengthening bonds of unity and teamwork among all personnel.
In conjunction with the anniversary, the Base also conducted several community service projects. A Shramadana campaign was carried out at the Vavuniya Railway Station, while a blood donation campaign was organized on 22 October 2025 at the Base Hospital premises to support the Blood Bank of the Vavuniya District General Hospital, which was experiencing a shortage of blood. These initiatives underscored SLAF Base Vavuniya’s dedication to both community welfare and organizational solidarity.
