The Change of Command of No 3 Maritime Squadron took place today (06 November 2025) followed by the traditional Handing Over/Taking over parade which was conducted at the Squadron premises. The outgoing Commanding Officer, Group Captain DGNB Senavirathne RWP, RSP and Bar, USP, MLRHRM, Pg Dip (Def Mgt), Pg Dip (Con & Pea Stu), psc, qfi handed over the Command to Wing Commander PGGK Bowatte MSc (Def &Strat Stu), MSc in GIS & RS, BSc (Def Stu) MTS, psc, qfi. 

The new Commanding Officer, Wing Commander PGGK Bowatte previously held the appointment of Officer Commanding Operations of No 3 Maritime Squadron before being appointed as the Commanding Officer of the Squadron. The outgoing Commanding Officer, will be assuming the duties as the Acting Base Commander SLAF Base Vauniya.
