SLAF BASE ANURADHAPURA CELEBRATES 43RD ANNIVERSARY
SLAF Base Anuradhapura celebrated its 43rd anniversary on 09 November 2025 with a series of commemorative events, reaffirming its longstanding commitment to national service and regional development.
The anniversary celebrations commenced with several community-oriented and environmental initiatives. These included a cleaning programme at the Nuwara Wewa jogging area, which is frequently used by the public, a blood donation campaign conducted at the Base Hospital in collaboration with the National Blood Bank, and a tree-planting programme aimed at promoting environmental conservation.
As part of the commemorations, a Pirith Chanting Ceremony was held on 07 November 2025 to invoke blessings and pay tribute to the fallen war heroes associated with the Base. This was followed by an Almsgiving attended by the families of fallen heroes and all ranks of the Base, honouring their sacrifices and strengthening the enduring bond between the SLAF and its extended family.
Concluding the series of events, the customary Working Parade was held yesterday (10 November 2025), reviewed by the Base Commander, Air Commodore Pradeep Piyarathne. The formal proceedings were followed by a variety of sports events at the Base Sports Ground, where officers, airmen, and civilian staff participated with great enthusiasm and team spirit.
