Grooming workshop for SVU members

A grooming workshop for the members of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit was organized on 30th July 2011 at the AFHQ auditorium under the patronage of the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit. The full day workshop was steered by Mrs. Nayana Karunarathne, Directress of ‘Image Academy of Personality Development’, ‘Image Academy of Hair and Beauty’ and the owner of a leading chain of salons ‘Salon Nayana’.
The objective of this workshop was for personality development and to create awareness, value and responsibility of being the spouse of an Air Force Officer.
Mrs. Nayana Karunarathne being versatile in her field was able to enrich the participants with her own experiences and delivered valuable tips useful for the role of being a dutiful woman/wife/mother.
Responsibilities as a Guest or a Host, simple and effective tips on planning functions, dining etiquette, significance of maintaining good health and personal hygiene were among the highlights of the day which also included practical demonstrations of saree draping, hair styles and make up of chosen participants.
Over hundred participants were present for the workshop including Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrama, Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Roshani Gunathilleke, Deputy Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit and Spouses of Directors and other Senior Officers and Lady Officers representing all the Bases/ Units/ Stations.
Mrs. Manaram Rambukwella introduced Mrs. Nayana Karunarathne to the participants while Mrs. Chamani Pathirage, the Secretary of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit guided the program through the proceedings adding glamour with her vocal talent. The Assistant Secretary SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Squadron Leader Nadeera Thanthrige delivered the vote of thanks.
The day was full of education, fun, interactions and entertainment and was sponsored by the SLAF Sava Vanitha Unit with refreshments, lunch and tea being served for all.
