AIR FORCE SC TRIUMPHS AGAINST NAVY SC IN INTER-CLUB RUGBY LEAGUE MATCH
Air Force Sports Club recorded a win against Navy Sports Club in the Maliban Inter-Club Rugby League 2025/26 Forces Derby match, which was played at the Air Force Grounds, Ratmalana today (13 December 2025).
Air Force SC led 18–0 at halftime and went on to secure a 28–14 victory at full time.
Maleesha Weerakoon, along with national players Shashika Fernando and Shamika Kaushan, scored one try each for Air Force SC. Gayantha Iddamalgoda successfully converted two tries and kicked three penalties, contributing a total of 13 points to the team’s overall score.
The Airmen maintained consistent pressure through structured attacking play and effective territorial control, limiting the scoring opportunities of Navy SC for much of the match.
With this win, Air Force Sports Club strengthened its position in the Maliban Inter-Club Rugby League standings. The competition will continue next weekend, with Air Force SC scheduled to take on Havelock Sports Club on 19 December 2025, at Havelock Park.
