SLAF PROVIDES MEDICAL ASSISTANCE TO DISASTER-AFFECTED COMMUNITIES IN NUWARA ELIYA
A medical clinic organized by the Medical Section of the SLAF Hospital Guwanpura was conducted on 17 December 2025 for displaced persons residing at the Safe Centres established at Walapane Hospital and Madulla National School in the Nuwara Eliya District, following landslides caused by adverse weather conditions.
The clinic was conducted with the participation of a medical team comprising surgical, radiological, paediatric and dental specialists, along with psychological and physiotherapy services. SLAF medical officers and staff provided medical consultations, essential treatment and necessary follow-up care to the displaced community.
In addition, essential items required for the daily needs of the affected individuals were distributed during the programme. Through this medical clinic, approximately 400 patients, including 80 children, received medical care and humanitarian assistance.
Furthermore, under the leadership of the SLAF Station Pidurutalagala, additional medical clinics were conducted in Ambewela, Hawa Eliya, Kandapola and Shantipura areas of the Nuwara Eliya District, providing medical consultations and essential treatment to over 1,000 people affected by adverse weather conditions.
