Airman Jayakody selected to Box at Asian Meet

Sri Lanka Air Force Boxers participated for the Trial Boxing Meet for
Asian Confederation Boxing Championship which is scheduled to be held in
Korea from 03rd – 13 Aug 2011. This selection trial was held recently
at the Royal College Boxing Ring at Colombo.
The SLAF pugilists represented 5 weight classes where Leading Aircraftsman Jayakody TDNT (Light Weight – under 60 kg) became the champion in his weight class whilst Leading Aircraftsman Dhanushka (Bantam weight - under 56 Kg) became the Runner up.
As a result of this trial, Leading Aircraftsman Jayakody TDNT has been selected to represent Sri Lanka at the Asian Confederation Boxing Championship which is to be held in Korea this year. He was enlisted to the Air Force on 7th May 2007 as a Gunner and he did his Basic Combat Training at SLAF China Bay. He was selected to the SLAF Boxing Pool after winning a Feather Weight title at the Inter Unit Boxing Championship in 2008.
