SLAF WEERAWILA FIRE SERVICE UNIT TRAINS TECHNICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS IN FIRE SAFETY

The SLAF Station Weerawila Fire Service Unit conducted a Fire Safety Awareness Lecture and Firefighting Demonstration yesterday (29 December 2025) for students of the Technical College, Weerawila, further strengthening inter-agency collaboration and promoting institutional fire safety awareness.

The programme included a comprehensive lecture on fire prevention techniques, emergency response protocols, and practical demonstrations of firefighting procedures. The event aimed to enhance the knowledge and situational preparedness of the students in handling fire-related emergencies.

The comprehensive training programme was conducted under the guidance of the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Weerawila, Group Captain Nalaka Wanasinghe, and the Station Fire Officer, Flight Lieutenant BS Ragel. The successful execution of the programme was made possible through the supervision of the Director General Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal Dammika Dias, and the Chief Fire Officer, Group Captain Hemantha Balasooriya.

The Principal of the Technical College, Mr. SR Weerakoon, along with the Career Guidance Officer and Programme Coordinator, Miss Chathuri Dodampe, attended the occasion and expressed their sincere appreciation for the support extended by the SLAF Station Weerawila Fire Service Unit.
