The Change of Command at SLAF Station Bandaranaike International Airport was held yesterday (06 January 2026), during which Group Captain NP Perera, RWP, officially handed over command to Group Captain SK Weerasekara, USP, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), MHRM, Pg Dip (Def Mgt), MIM (SL), AMITD (SL), psc.

Accordingly, Group Captain Perera will assume duties as the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Morawewa. Prior to his appointment, Group Captain Weerasekara held the appointment of Commanding Officer of No. 02 Leisure and Recreation Wing and has now assumed duties as the new Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Bandaranaike International Airport.
