The Change of Command at Ground Training Wing SLAF Academy China Bay took place yesterday (06 January 2026). Where the outgoing Commanding Officer, Group Captain LHLK Liyanahetti USP, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), Pg Dip (Def Mgt), psc handed over the command to Group Captain CP Hettiarachchi USP, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), B Com (Def Stu), MIM (SL), GI Fire E, psc 

Group Captain Liyanahetti will subsequently take over the duties as the Commanding Officer No. 28 Regiment Wing SLAF Station Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte.

The new Commanding Officer, Group Captain Hettiarachchi held the appointment as Commanding Officer Fire School & Fire Tender Maintenance School SLAF Base Katunayake before being appointed as the Commanding Officer at Ground Training Wing SLAF Academy China Bay.
